Druanne,

Please don't hesitate to call me Billy if you want to. I won't even mind being called that at our reunion because that is the only reason I'm allowed there.
I really loved Miss Carl. She told me once many years after elementary school that I was always her favorite child. ( I didn't believe that because she whooped my butt so many times) I was working at "Nabors Gulf Station"...Do you remember that at the corner of Rice avenue and Richmond? They did the corvettes? She came in there and I waited on her and she recognized me. That's when she told me the secret that only she knew and I didn't know. Druanne, you and I always walked to school. Remember??? When she relised who the young man was that was working on her car at the gas pumps, her eyes swelled up with tears, as mine are right now remembering this. She told me that as I was walking to school one morning, during my first days at Pilgrim, I had picked a bunch of flowers. I gave them to Miss Carl. She told me when I was 14 or 15 that I was the first kid at her first assignment as principal that ever gave her flowers!!!! I was ABSOULTLY FLABBERGASTED!! Then.......

NOW.......I understand perfectly....

Druanne...You can call me Billy ANYTIME....my mother still does....

i'm not surprised in the least she told you that bill - and you can drop the anne part.. i always feel like i'm in major trouble when i get called that! i dropped by good ole pilgrim before miss carl retired just to say hi and talk to her.. i was happy to get the chance to do that ... she ruled with an iron glove.. it makes me sad to look at the old neighborhood.. did you ever go pick blueberries in the field kind of across the street?

and i remember nabor's! although i never had a vette:P :)
