Vicky Kathleen Samuel went to be with Jesus Christ on Friday, December 8, 2000. She was born August 21, 1952 to Maurice and Doris Magness of Houston, Texas.

She attended Robert E. Lee High School, Stephen F. Austin University, and the University of Texas Dental Hygiene School. Vicky was a loving, caring, wonderful Christian mother and wife. Her huge number of “friends,” not acquaintances, acquired during her 20 years in Austin, evidenced Vicky’s genuine, selfless caring for others.   Although she had battled breast cancer for 3 ˝ years, Vicky was always reaching out to others. Even in the depths of immense bone pain, she would offer kind, gentle, caring words to others. She would say, “I like your top,” or “Don’t you look pretty today.” Vicky was the Love of her husband’s life and will leave a chasm that can only be filled through his relationship with Jesus Christ. I love you, Vicky, and I miss you!

Vicky is survived by two wonderful, Christian sons, Christopher and Scott, and a loving husband of 28 ˝ years, Dan, all of Austin, Texas. Her mother, father, and brother, John Magness, his two children, Jamie & Hunter, all of Houston, Texas, and Mowie Spencer, her beloved grandmother, also survive her. In addition, her parents-in-law, Nita and L.D. Levy, and Dan’s two sisters, Pam and her husband Mike, Alane, and her husband, Kenny, & their three children, Dustin, Lauren, & Steven, survive her.

Vicky’s oncologist, Dr. Michael Kasper, became a friend, as well as her doctor, during this battle for her body. The oncology staff at Texas Oncology and the seventh floor Oncology staff of Seton Hospital went the extra mile to provide love and compassion during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, please send to donations to Brentwood Christian School, 11908 N. Lamar Blvd. Austin, TX 78753.

Services to celebrate Vicky’s life were held at Grace Covenant Church 9500 Research Blvd. at 4 p.m., Monday, December 11th. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, December 10th at Amey Funeral Home, 7811 Rockwood Lane.

Please read her favorite scriptures Isaiah 40:31 and 43:2.
